Monthly support group for solo agers. This is a semi-structured group with a designated topic relevant to solo agers.
This month We will be discussing Flying Solo, a study that explores the differences in how solo and supported agers plan to address the needs and concerns associated with aging.
With declining birth rates, increasing divorce rates, and more people living alone, the solo ager demographic is increasing.
This brief science-based overview will be a useful starting point for reflection and discussion.
"Flying Solo" will be posted for your access on the newly-created "Solo Agers" NEV forum page. Don‘t worry about joining the group if you don‘t have a chance to read it. All perspectives are welcome.

Instructor Lori Bennett: Lori has been gardening since childhood on a farm in Ohio, then moving to gardens in Washington, Alaska, California and Oregon. She’s been saving seeds and teaching people how to save seeds for years.

Monthly meeting of the Soil to Supper team that plans and organizes gardening and cooking programs and activities.
This group explores all facets of death and dying. The group is currently closed to new members. If you are interested in forming or being a part of a similar group, please contact the Village Manager.
This group meets monthly. Depending on the size of the group we will meet either in one of our homes or in a room at the Rose City Park United Methodist Church. Our goal is to have a quiet, comfortable place where people can hear each other and share feelings, thoughts and questions in a supportive environment.
The group is intended to serve anyone who has suffered a loss recently or in the past and is looking for support in navigating a new reality, sharing their experience or finding resources to cope with grief, loss or the challenges of living on one’s own.
There is no moderator for this group. We are simply people who share the experience of having lost someone dear to us and are looking for support or to provide support to others in a similar situation.
We will be discussing "Deer Hunting with Jesus" by Joe Bageant. This is Bageant’s report on what he learned when he returned to his hometown of Winchester, Va. Two of five of the people in his old neighborhood did not have high school diplomas or health care. “Alcohol, overeating and Jesus were the preferred avenues of escape.” The book is a call to arms for progressives with little understanding of the church-going, gun-owning America that has never set foot in a Starbucks. The book was written in 2007 but his description of income inequality and problems facing the working poor seem equally valid today.
This book group is currently full and unable to accept new members. Please contact the Village Manager if you are interested in forming or joining a new book group.
This annual gathering is open to all Village members and volunteers. This is a casual event with ample opportunity to connect with old friends and meet new ones from the Village. Live music by The Morags.
What to bring:
• Your own chair and maybe an extra for a friend
• Food, drink and utensils for yourself
Please remember to register as an individual, not just as a couple. This will help our planning team create name tags. Thank you!
