Discover the fascinating inland waterways of France. Cruising the canals and rivers of this historically, culturally and gastronomically rich country is simultaneously relaxing and stimulating. Experience Burgundy, with its medieval villages, rich chateaux, fine wines and world-famous cuisine. Or Provence, sun-drenched and laid back, with Roman remains, picturesque fishing villages and colorful markets. During this lively presentation, NE Village members, Joan and Neil Malling, will explore three options for exploring and enjoying the canals and rivers of France: hotel/charter barges, river cruisers, and self-drive rental boats. Each type of boating has its own special charms. For the last nineteen years, Neil and Joan have enjoyed spending summers in France on their 40 year old, Dutch motor-cruiser, experiencing the country from the canals and rivers. The rest of the year, they are usually in Portland.
