NEV: Weekend Update 07/27/2020

Lindsey D Oldani | Published on 7/27/2020

Happy Monday Villagers,

This week’s update has an important update about your membership, and many upcoming opportunities for Volunteers and Members to connect with in your NE Village community!

MEMBERSHIP UPDATE:

Because services and activities have been sharply curtailed by the COVID-19 pandemic, NEV's Governing Council has adopted a change in membership terms. Beginning September 1, 2020, members may opt to have a three-month extension of their membership term at no extra cost. For example, if your renewal payment is due September 30, 2020.

Here’s how it works: when annual renewal payments are due, members may choose to extend the period of their memberships by three months, with no change in the amount due. For example, if your renewal payment is due September 30, you may elect to extend the due date to December 31, and pay the same amount as you would have with no extension. After that, your annual renewal payments will be due on December 31 each year.

Please call the office at 503-895-2750 if you have questions or comments. We appreciate your membership and hope this opportunity will help keep our Village vital and strong.

COMING UP IN YOUR VILLAGE

Our Village is vibrant and has a robust calendar of ongoing ways to connect virtually on ZOOM or at a safe social distance outdoors. Please, visit the online calendar to sign up!

PATIO PICNICS:

As we enter summer and have the opportunity to spend more time outside, would you enjoy a patio picnic (lunch or dinner) with another Village member?

To host a picnic you need to have space to accommodate one or two other people at a minimum of 6 feet apart. Each member will provide their own dishes, utensils, napkins, food and beverage.

Any village member can participate as long as you have a space to host or can travel to another member's home or a park if you want to picnic there. To join in the summer outdoor fun call the office (503-895-2750) or Julie Granger (971-266-7670) and give the following information.

1. Whether you can host or not.

2. Would you prefer a lunch or dinner picnic?

3. Your name and number.

You will be matched and together you can plan your picnic!

This workshop will walk you through the steps needed to set up the activity online. The one-hour discussion and demonstration will answer questions such as: What types of activities work best with the Zoom format? What topics are Villagers interested in? What tools and resources has the Village provided to enable members and volunteers to set up Zoom gatherings? We rely on the ideas and enthusiasm of members and volunteers to keep our virtual calendar full of opportunities to connect with each other. Please join us to learn how easy it is to take your idea from possibility to (virtual) reality.
