What is this?
Have you known someone to say, “I don’t really care about having a funeral; I’d rather have a party before I die!” Living funerals – otherwise known as pre-funerals, death parties, passage parties - provide a chance to celebrate relationships and the joy of connections with loved ones near the end of one’s life. These events are growing in popularity across the US as more and more people choose to have an active role in designing their last chapters of life. Join us for a conversation about this growing trend.
Presented by Julie Bernstein, founder of Second Valley Events. Prior to launching Second Valley, she spent 15 years working as a physician assistant in geriatric and hospital medicine and as co-founder and director of OHSU’s inpatient geriatric consult service. In 2022, Julie decided to leave the hospital behind to focus on celebrations of lives well lived and the joy of connections with our loved ones, founding Portland's first event planning service dedicated solely to end of life gatherings.
This event is free and open to the public. Wheelchair accessible.
