What is this?
This year will be the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC)or COP28 which is being held in Dubai Nov 30 - Dec 12. The UNFCCC is an international treaty adopted in 1992 by 165 countries with the aim of reversing damage done to the earth’s climate by human activity. While this effort has often been disappointing, the UNFCCC process remains the only international table around which the human community can deal with a crisis that has no borders.
This workshop will include background on the UN climate process and how citizens can engage with it. This event will also include discussion of how our Village could help others in our local community participate in the upcoming conference.
The workshop will be led by Frank Granshaw, who, in addition to being a village member, is a retired geoscience instructor, an active climate educator and advocate, and an accredited observer at major UN climate conferences since 2017.
