What is this?
This series of weekly singing classes offers techniques to help you learn to
listen well, hear harmonies, practice singing by ear, and experience singing along
with others. No ability to read music required but, of course, if you do read music
and/or play instruments and/or have experience singing in groups, that’s great!
These are not standard vocal technique sessions but rather draw off the expertise of NEV member Melinda Pittman, who has worked as a live theatre director, composer, musician, and musical theatre playwright. She will help you to learn to listen in subtle and detailed ways, to use your inherent imagination physically and vocally, to practice relaxation, build your own vocal support and sustained breathing practice, and to experience ways to use your voice to support and encourage others.
Participants are asked to register for a month of classes, with the option to continue in February.
