About this event
Did you know that seizures can look a lot different than those typically portrayed on TV? Depending on where in the brain seizures are coming from, seizures are marked by different symptoms. For example, people frequently experience visual changes if seizures originate in the occipital cortex, and déjà vu if they originate in the hippocampus. This lecture provides a broad overview of the different types of seizures people can experience and the neuroscience that underlies seizures, with a special focus on the connection between seizure symptoms and neuroanatomy. Marissa Kellogg, M.D., M.P.H., will be our featured speaker this month, National Epilepsy Awareness Month. Dr. Kellogg is assistant professor of Neurology in the OHSU School of Medicine.
