About this event
Join us for a guided 1.6 mile walking tour of the Crystal Springs Watershed followed by lunch and a card making activity. We will start at Johnson Creek Park with stops at Brannen Natural Area, followed by lunch and a card making activity at Westmoreland Park before returning to Johnson Creek.
Led by Mary Ann Schmidt, Co-chair of the Crystal Springs Partnership, retired faculty of the Environmental Science and Management Department at PSU and former director of the Environmental Professional Program at PSU. She promotes and supports lifelong learning using place-based, engaging activities conducted in the natural world. Along with Crystal Springs Partnership board members, Mary Ann leads land-tending activities at three different sites in the Crystal Springs watershed.
The Crystal Springs Partnership is a group of community members, organizations, and City representatives who are working toward making the Crystal Springs Watershed a vibrant, healthy place for people and wildlife. The group is partnering with local knowledge and agency expertise to develop a national model for urban watersheds. In particular, working toward ensuring that Crystal Springs Creek will have healthy urban salmon through community collaboration around education, advocacy, and restoration.
Patrick Norton is a Portland artist specializing in illustration for books, science journals and natural history education media, as well as fine art images inspired by nature.
This walk is relatively easy but not recommended for people in wheelchairs or walkers.
