About this event
Join us for this uplifting presentation by two area organizations that bring music to those who are dying or facing other major life-altering transitions.
Portland Threshold Choir volunteers sing for people crossing life's thresholds disability, death, birth, sorrow, celebration and more. Songs are chosen to respond to the musical tastes, spiritual traditions and needs of those being served. Their songs carry messages of love, strength, comfort, healing, peace and joy. The singers sing in small groups of two or three in private settings and in larger groups at contemplative events at no cost.
Swan Songs organizes private concerts for individuals with a terminal illness or nearing the end of life, and supports live music in a community by compensating artists for the concerts. These free, intimate "musical last wishes" concerts are held in healthcare facilities or private homes, and are often attended by family, loved ones, and caregivers. Swan Songs maximizes the impact of the concerts by engaging musicians who match each recipient's favorite style of music, songs, or instruments to create a concert that is unique and meaningful for everyone present.
Attendees are welcome to bring a sack lunch. Wheelchair accessible.
