About this event

As part of our ongoing Housing Options webinar series, this panel will explore cohousing and other cooperative housing options for people to consider. Panelists include: NEV volunteer Abe Cohen and resident of Cully Cohousing; Lew Bowers, resident of PDX Commons; and Garlynn Woodsong, President and Chair of the Oregon Cooperative Housing Network.

Cully Grove is a multigenerational co-housing community in NE Portland with an emphasis on the sharing of community tasks and fostering relationships.

PDX Commons is a 27-unit intentional community for adults age 55+ located in the Belmont neighborhood. Lew Bowers is a retired City Maker, who co-founded PDX Commons, is on the Board of the Cohousing Association of the US and who helps start-up cohousing groups get started.

The Oregon Cooperative Housing Network (OCHN), is a statewide organization dedicated to expanding cooperative housing as an affordable, community-driven alternative to traditional homeownership and rental models. OCHN supports the development of housing cooperatives by providing education, technical assistance, advocacy, and resources to help create stable, resident-owned communities across Oregon. Garlynn Woodsong is a housing and urban planning expert with extensive experience in cooperative housing, cohousing, and community-driven development. In his role as President and Chair of the OCHN, he works to expand co-ops as an equitable housing solution, while his broader planning work focuses on sustainable, walkable communities that empower residents through collective ownership and shared governance.
