What is this?
Inspired by Sheryl Atkinson's book Slanted, join for a discussion on journalistic standards, whether they've changed (and how), where the profession is headed, and how the public can successfully navigate the many news venues of the 21st Century. Our guest speaker for this event is Nancy Townsley, an essayist, longtime newspaper journalist, and a marathoner who lives on a floating home in the Multnomah Channel west of Portland. Her work-in-progress, Sunshine Girl, is a roman à clef about a journalist-turned-activist in a time of devalued news. In her 35-year-career as a community newspaper reporter and editor, Nancy earned numerous statewide awards for writing and editorial work from the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association and the Society of Professional Journalists.
