About this event
Local author Kathy Sharp will recount her personal struggle to secure housing and healthcare for her mother and will share the learnings from her experience as a caregiver and from her research writing her book "Aging Into Poverty." The talk will include updates on the current state of poverty among senior women in Oregon, a look back in history as to how we got here, and ideas for navigating the future as a fellow senior.
Kathy Sharp draws on her M.A from Stanford University in Education, her technology background, and her experience in managing federally funded programs to create a compelling work, rich with personal narrative, honest emotion, and extensive policy and services detail. A native Californian, Kathy now lives outside of Portland, Oregon, and is working to combat hunger with the Portland Fruit Tree Project, Bethlehem House of Bread and the Association of Gleaning Organizations.
Wheelchair accessible. Attendees are welcome to bring a lunch.
